Description:
Bigwell is set in the beautiful Wye Valley, on the outskirts of Monmouth and just 24 minutes drive from Newport or 25 minutes from Chepstow. There is a choice of three main pools. Number 1 pool, also known as the 'gin' or 'crystal' pool is a classic stalking venue due to the water clarity. There is also a small nursery pool for novices. All pools are regularly stocked with 2.5-3Lb hard fighting rainbows supplied by Exmoor Fisheries. In addition larger trout between 6-12Lbs are stocked as 'sporting' fish for the added pleasure and excitement of our clients. These fish are returned to fight another day.
Disabled anglers are catered for and the lodge has disabled facilities. Food is available from full English breakfast and lunch specials to bacon sandwiches etc. Complimentary beverages are offered to our clients.
A variety of ticket types are available, see prices.

Fished it two weeks ago, first chance to say cheers, Gary,...I only had a couple of hours to spare, killed two, 2 1/2 lb and 3 lb Rainbows,.....lost a lot more, fishing small buzzer just under the surface. Saw a couple of big ones...........I'll be back, S&f, Ron B.

Wow, what a difference since this fishery had been under new management. Weed problem under control, good head of trout in all pools, ground maintenance carried out. Clean and tidy facilities. Friendly helpful staff and good food. So glad I revisited after hearing of improvements. Well done Bigwell! Hal, Shropshire.

Helping young people to get started in fly fishing
21 June 2013 07:34
I am a 13 year old boy keen to try fly fishing. My dad says Bigwell wants to encourage young people. Is it possible to try fly fishing without buying kit first?
