Acorn Carp Fishery is officially opened in June 2001. The carp lake is approximately 3.5 acres. There are some 550 Carp currently in our lake. Around 300 doubles, 200 mid doubles, 30 high doubles, and the remainder 20s up to 30lb at the moment. The lake is usually netted each year and all the small carp are collected and stocked into the smaller stock pond.

Don't be put off by their website which is not very user friendly! When you get there, you will see a nicely laid out carp lake with plenty of decent features, all very 'castable'! Pick your peg depending on what the weather is doing - the lake has exposure to the elements from all sides so a strong warm or cold wind could affect where the carp are. The offer of basic cabins for longer sessions are great. Most of the pegs are well spaced and of a decent size, although when I went, owing to heavy rain they got swampy pretty quickly. Most pegs also benefit from gravel road access which runs round the carp lake so dropping off your gear or picking up after you session is made easier. Unlike many venues, you can rest assured of decent toilets and a warm shower, although you may wish to take you own loo roll! I have only fished Acorn once last year but I will be going back. The size and features of the water lends itself to a whole variety of angling techniques whether you are using rods or a pole. Access is excellent so if you are an angler that has restricted mobility owing to age, illness or disability - I am confident that there is a peg that's right for you. It's a nice place, well maintained and the chance of landing some decent weights of carp. I'd like to do a 24hr session after my day session last time, a recommended venue!
